Included will be details on the first LEED-EB O&M Gold Certification awarded in California - to South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. | | 9:30 AM | Session 4: Infrared Thermography: an Integral Part of Predictive Maintenance Programs Darryl Mendivil Mid-State Instruments 1 Hour This session will explore the value of using infrared thermography in predictive maintenance programs. Real world examples will illustrate how IR programs can help facilities to become more efficient and save money now and in the future. Receive tips on implementing an IR program. | | 11:00 AM | Session 5: Green Building Session: Solar PV Commercial Applications and Opportunities in California Mike Lin Delta Products Corporation 1 Hour Hear why U.S. solar installed capacity will more than double in 2010, and how to determine whether it makes sense to install a solar system, taking into account federal, state and local incentives, fluctuating electricity bills, and the issue of metering schemes. The speaker will discuss project financials, cash flow models, and power purchase agreements. Learn what to look for in the optimum proposal. | | 11:00 AM | Session 6: Improving Safety in Your Facility an Overview From Cal/OSHA Herman Jett Cal/OSHA Consultation Service 1 Hour Learn how facility hazards are classified by Cal/OSHA and about the penalty range. Included will be a look at some fatal accidents that have occurred in the U.S. in recent years, with information on what Cal/OSHA standards would have been applicable in each fatal situation, and what should have been done to prevent the occurrence. Also included will be information on heat illness prevention, and on free services provided by Cal/OSHA Consultation. | | 1:00 PM | Session 7: Green Building Session: The Naval Base Ventura County Achieving Energy Conservation/Awareness in a Small City Within a City Tom Santoianni, Energy Manager Naval Base Ventura County 1 Hour Hear about the achievements of the Naval Base Ventura County, CA, which employs over 8,200 people in a unique location, and is the Navy's "Energy Showcase" base for the West Coast, demonstrating the latest in energy-efficient and sustainable facilities. Topics include: energy mandates, energy awareness and conservation strategies, energy conservation projects, and public outreach. | | 1:00 PM | Session 8: California Fire Extinguisher Requirements How to Comply With Regulations Eric Lenning Mobile Fire Extinguisher, Inc. 1 Hour California Fire Code dictates the number and location of portable fire extinguishers for your facility. Extinguishers must be UL-approved, bear the label of a State Fire Marshall (SFM), and be serviced by individuals who are SFM-certified. Learn about these requirements and others, including frequency of inspection, testing, and filling needs of extinguishers. Also discussed will be criteria for choosing the best extinguisher type and best service company for your facility's needs. | | 2:10 PM | Session A: Green Building Film: Greening the Federal Government 30 Minutes Open to all show and conference attendees is a free screening of the film Greening the Federal Government, produced by Kontenreal as part of the PBS series e2 design. A film that can provide ideas to engineers in all types of facilities, not just government ones, it charts the move to make buildings sustainable. The focus is on the U.S. General Service Administration's Design Excellence program, and the remarkable building the program commissioned - the San Francisco Federal Building, designed by architect Thom Mayne - a structure that aims to be the prototype for tomorrow's workplace. | | May 13, 2010 | | 8:20 AM | Session 9: Green Building Session: Energy Audits How to Uncover Significant Potential Savings Michael Dadjou, Executive Vice President/COO Expedient Energy 1 Hour This session will describe how energy audits can identify many areas of potential savings at a facility. Discussed will be: energy audit objectives, how the audit is conducted, the energy-demand equipment and systems that are audited, how the findings and recommended measures are determined and presented, and the value of a comparative return-on-investment analysis. | | 9:30 AM | Session 11: Green Building Session: Solar Power Purchase Agreements an Owner's Perspective Matt Gudorf, Project Manager; Chris Abbamonto, Energy Manager, and Fred Bockmiller, Campus Principal Engineer, University of California-Irvine 1 Hour Three facilities staff members from The University of California-Irvine will share their recent experiences and lessons learned from implementing a campus-wide solar power purchase agreement.
